As 2021 comes to a close we wanted to celebrate all that we have done at Turi Children's Project this year with the children. We had a wonderful party, including delicious food, singing performances, Bible verses, speeches and poems. The children also received certificates to show their participation in the activities this year (sewing, knitting, computing, carpentry and bead making). It was so wonderful to have the children all together again for the first time since our birthday party in February (on normal days the children are in two groups, rotating between coming on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and then on Tuesday and Thursday). We really hope we will be able to come together again in the new year.
The parents were also able to come the following day to collect food parcels to keep them going over the holidays. We hope and pray that this will be a blessing to many families in the village.
As we all know, Covid is again causing havoc across the world so we pray that the government here makes wise decisions about what to do regarding Omicron and schooling in the new year. Lack of schooling is incredibly damaging to the children's lives here as there really isn't any possibility for home learning. We pray that with the improvements we have made to the facilities here, including the solar panels that are now enabling the children to have hot showers regularly, we will be able to keep TCP going from strength to strength in the new year. I would like to wish you a brilliant Christmas and New Year, wherever you may be. Please do keep in touch and do consider giving to help us to continue developing the facilities and activities we are able to offer and to continue helping us to give these children a hope and a future. Many blessings, Rachel, James, Miriam and the TCP team
